The Program in Spain

July 2nd to July 30th, 2019
includes round-trip airfare from JFK

Welcome to the Rassias Language Program in Spain! Spain occupies most of the Iberian Peninsula in southwest Europe, and its territory includes the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands in the Atlantic. Much of the mainland is high plateau, with mountain ranges, including the Pyrenees, in the north. The plateau experiences hot summers and cold winters—it is cooler and wetter to the north.

Our Spain program is in the beautiful city of Gijon (Asturias Region) The impetuous Bay of Biscay (or Cantabrian Sea as it is known locally), which embraces the city of Gijón, has marked its history for over 5,000 years. Seaport to the Ruta Vía de la Plata, Gijón keeps its Roman past alive through the actions taken in the Campa de Torres Archaeological Site, one of the main fortified settlements of the north of Spain (before 490 B.C.), and especially in the restored baths complex at Campo Valdés, a public building which dates from the end of the 1st century A.D.

The progressive modernization of the city, along with its own excellent natural conditions, has turned Gijón into a city that attracts a growing number of visitors, drawn by a good offer of culture and sports and a strong service sector. Now, at the beginning of a new century, Gijón is doing its utmost to preserve its remote historical past and to display this as an example of its touristic excellence.
The Rassias-Spain experience is perfect for students looking to immerse themselves in the rich Spanish history and culture of the country while bettering their Spanish skills via daily language classes and living with a Spanish family. In addition, you have the option to sign up for soccer camp with the renowned team Sporting the Gijon! (click here for more information about the soccer camp). The travel part of the program allows you to visit world famous cities and sites in Spain including the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, the Guggenheim in Spain, the famous Picos de Europa, and many more.

Come to enjoy tapas, culture, and language with us this Summer!
